Import from Excel button
To import a decrement table from Excel into Slope, navigate to the Decrement Tables management screen and click on the Import From Excel button next to the Input Table at the top right.
This will bring up a dialog where you can give a description to the new table, specify the Decrement Table type and select an Excel file to import from. You can also import a new Excel file by clicking on the 'Add new file' link located just below the file section drop-down. Once a file has been selected, a new input box will be displayed showing all the Worksheet names within the selected Excel Workbook. Select the appropriate Worksheet name and click save to import the data.
Requirements for Data Import
Data on the worksheet must conform to the following requirements.
- Row 1 of the worksheet must contain a header row with column names.
- The worksheet must contain the following values in the header row with data for each column based on the type of the decrement table.
Standard Decrement Tables
- Gender - Can be specified as 'Male', 'Female', 'M' or 'F' (case-insensitive). Any other values will default to a gender of 'Unknown'
- Age - Must be an integer value
- Decrement Rate
Improving Decrement Table
- Gender - Can be specified as 'Male', 'Female', 'M' or 'F' (case-insensitive). Any other values will default to a gender of 'Unknown'
- Age - Must be an integer value
- Decrement Rate
- Improvement
Select and Ultimate Table
- Gender - Can be specified as 'Male', 'Female', 'M' or 'F' (case-insensitive). Any other values will default to a gender of 'Unknown'
- Age - Must be an integer value
- One column each, starting with '1' through the end of the select period. (ex. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 for a 5-year select period)
- Ultimate Rate
Additional Notes
- An imported worksheet may contain extra columns not required for the Decrement Table. Any values in these columns will be ignored during import.
- Columns do not need to appear in any specific order. As long as there is a unique column header that matches the table column name, it will identify the data properly.
- Blank columns are allowed in the worksheet, including in the header row. These will be ignored during import.
- Any blank rows on the imported worksheet will be ignored. These will not appear as blank rows in the imported Decrement Table.
- Formulas are allowed in imported worksheets. The resulting Value of any cell with a formula will be imported.
- The select period on Select and Ultimate tables will be inferred by how many consecutive numerical row headers exist in the worksheet. For example, if the worksheet contains values in row 1 that start at 1 and go to 25, then Slope will assume that the table has a 25-year select period.
